The activities that the customer wants to pay for.
Value added activity is the transformation (correctly for the first time) of materials, information or service for the benefit of the customer. Value added work is what the customer wishes to pay for. The opposite of value added activity is waste, which the customer does not want to pay for. Wastes are categorised in lean as the Seven Wastes.
